Tales From a Grizzled Surf Veteran
Aloha, and welcome to Talking Story A collection of tales and memories of Denny "River Rat" Waller, an ex-pro surfer, based on many of the sport's developments from the 50's and 60's to the present. Keep in mind that I lived hard during the 70's and 80's. I tried all the magical substances. Therefore, when I'm delving deeply into the memory banks bare with me if things sometimes get a tad hazy. A lot of surfers my age can't ride or remember. Also, I was always a loner, with just a small circle of friends from Newport Beach and the Dave Sweet surfshop. Yes, I rode in contests for Dave Sweet Surfboards and for M.S.A., but I did not hang with a lot of the other pros after events. I was never that sociable. So, my stories are just from my experiences and my memories, I can not speak for the other top surfers of my day.
